Created by Nicole Salgar, Vortex Veritas is a monumental portal that links the devastating power of Cat 5 Hurricane Felix to the mysterious world of the Mermaid Star Motel. Drawing inspiration from stained glass windows and the idea of dimensional gateways, the piece invites visitors to step through time and space into FloridaRAMA’s surreal narrative landscape. The title—Latin for “a swirling, powerful force with the pursuit of truth”—sets the tone for a mythic journey grounded in Florida’s layered, chaotic beauty.

Cabana Confessional
Multisensory installation: mirrors, LED lighting, sound, scent diffusion
Nicole Salgar’s second installation, Cabana Confessional, is a whimsical fusion of poolside nostalgia and sacred reflection. Equal parts absurd and intimate, this playful booth invites guests to enter a mirrored space pulsing with color, sound, and scent. Somewhere between a spa day and a surreal sermon, Cabana Confessional turns inward gazing into a multisensory ritual.

Bio—
Nicole Salgar is a painter and muralist of Latin descent, born in Miami and now living in St. Petersburg, FL. Her passion for travel and cultural exchange has deeply influenced her artistic voice. Through artist residencies and community projects, she has created public artworks and collaborated with corporations, clients, nonprofits, communities and youth internationally and across the U.S.

Her work blends the tangible and surreal, constructing dreamlike narratives that invite viewers to reflect and connect. By leveraging art as a conduit for dialogue and engagement, Nicole explores themes of identity, humanity, and the natural world.

With a strong belief in the transformative power of art and design, she views experimentation as essential to innovation. Her practice evolves from research to production, shaped by immersive experiences and a commitment to storytelling.

Nicole’s murals are not only visually striking but also rooted in purpose—bridging communities and elevating shared narratives through intentional, expressive public art.
