Known to friends as “Von,” but known by the masses as “that mustache guy,” Von brings his neon artwork from Bradenton, FL, here to St. Petersburg under his business name, TV Artworks.
Von is a self-taught Florida artist whose projects range from designing original stickers to painting an 18” tall Batman Funko Pop. Originating from St. Louis, Missouri, Von found his inspiration through the television while watching shows as a kid/teenager. He remembers these characters through vivid retellings mimicking the graffiti art he often idolized. He specializes in comic book art and pop culture art and is set to show at the 3rd Annual Tampa Bay Comics & Brews Mini-Con. He creates bold works highlighted by thick line art that pops with bright colors and lights. It looks like his colorful artwork might just jump out of the paper!
Von’s vivid use of color and eye-popping visuals stem from his colorblindness, a fact that comes as a shock to those admiring his art. After creating his pieces, he discovered that the seemingly “normal” colors he had been aiming for were bright and loud on the eyes, but he decided to embrace it. It now leads to a unique style that transcends the boundaries separating people and creates immersive art that can be appreciated by all, no matter how we see things.
Von’s Tourist Trap collection features a variety of items including artist stickers and pop culture stickers of your favorite characters. This new collection features a one-of-a-kind art print exclusive to Von’s first wave: Evil-Lyn, part one of his new series, “Femme-Fatale.” Each print is personally signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that proves you own the original. Evil-Lyn was produced with archival ink on hot press watercolor paper, framed and matted to create that signature look. Evil-Lyn will never be produced again after the first wave sells out. Additionally, shop art lovers will appreciate the exclusivity and craftsmanship of this release.
