Flora-Da-Scope, Mixed media interactive sculpture

Flora-Da-Scope is a huge, Florida-themed kaleidoscope created by Aleisha Prather, Alex Kaufman and George Retkes. It’s more modern and cooler than any other Kaleidoscope you’ve ever seen! Using movement, LEDs and acrylic, Flora-Da-Scope transports viewers to a psychedelic and fantastical world, leaving them speechless. Flora-Da-Scope is a gateway to a universe that you need to experience first-hand to completely understand.

George Retkes is a Hungarian-American sculptor based in St. Petersburg, Florida. He
studied Visual Arts at Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School and
earned a BFA in sculpture from Ringling College in 2010. After working in residential
construction, he joined MGA Sculpture Studio in 2014 where he is now the shop
manager and lead fabricator. Later in 2022 he also co-founded ARTONOMY, LLC with
his partner, Laura Spencer, to pursue other creative side projects.
Recent selected exhibitions and projects include: 49th Annual Art Festival Beth-El, Art
@ the library – Barbara S. Ponce Public Library outdoor sculpture installation, and The
Sunshine City Mosaic for Sunset Park in St. Petersburg.
